R.F. (Ben) Stewart, III, JD, LLM, CEBS
Position: Partner
Mr. Stewart practices in the areas of estate planning, elderlaw, veteran’s administration and Medicaid planning, probate and trusts, employee benefits, corporate and business law. Mr. Stewart is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Tennessee and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He is also accredited for the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for veteran’s benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Mr. Stewart received a Bachelors Degree in Management from the University of Alabama in 1981. Mr. Stewart received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 1984. While in law school, Mr. Stewart served as editor of the Alabama Real Property, Probate and Trust Newsletter. After graduating from Cumberland, Mr. Stewart earned a Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Florida College of Law. In addition, Mr. Stewart has also been awarded the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation from the Wharton School of Business and the International Society of Employee Benefit Specialists.
He is a member of the Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations, The Birmingham Estate Planning Council and the International Foundation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist. He is a founding member of the WealthCounsel, Advisors Forum, ElderCounsel, and is and is a certified member of Kingdom Advisors.
Prior to Dempsey, Steed, Stewart, Ritchey & Gaché, LLP, Mr. Stewart’s legal experience included private practice with a Nashville law firm, tax consulting with a big four accounting firm and Vice President & Director of the legal department of an international human resources consulting firm.
Mr. Stewart was raised in Birmingham. He is married with two children. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and golf.
